For a short period of time I gave myself permission to “play.” It began back around 2017-19, at that time I was doing a lot of hiking and walking. I made sure my “pod” of friends and I got over or up to the mountains. Many of those days on the trail hiking 5-8 miles fed this idea of the “intimate universe”. Walking over roots and rocks, seaweed and sand had me watching my footfalls and all the intimate beauty on the micro scale.

In various studios I started to push myself to places where I was out of my comfort zone with materials and in some cases back to my roots in drawing and making prints. I lined up gallery space to et forth a goal and I set out to bringing an idea to fruition. While it is far from having been fully explored, I am grateful to the support from Maine Arts Commission’s project grant, Haystack, Pickwick and Circling the Square printshops for helping me find my path back to the bedrock of being an artist, grappling with ideas while making.
